About New Orleans
New Orleans is also known for its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage, eclectic cuisine, music ( birthplace of jazz), and its annual festivals such as the Mardi Gras, dating back to French colonial times. These and many others are the reasons why NoLa is considered the “most unique” city in the United States of America.
NoLa seats on the Mississippi River banks, the main artery being Canal Street divides the city into the 2 primary areas, respectively named “downtown” and “uptown”. Downtown neighborhoods include the French Quarter, Tremé, and Faubourg; Uptown neighborhoods include the Garden District, Gert Town, and Fontainebleau. The unique architecture of this city is widely influenced by its multicultural heritage.
