The Kennedy Space Center, located on Merritt Island, Central Florida, is a major tourist destination in Florida.
The center is located north-west of Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic Ocean, midway between Miami and Jacksonville, and about one-hour drive from Orlando and the famous theme parks of Disney World and Universals.
What visit @ Kennedy Space Center
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers escorted tours around the entire NASA center, and admission to the Air Force Station Museum in Cape Canaveral. Most of NASA is built underground, thus only 9% of the surface is occupied and this has allowed the local flora and fauna to find an ideal environment to thrive and give birth to an incredible wildlife sanctuary. The Mosquito Lagoon, the Indian River, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore are some of the island’s Natural Reserves you should consider visiting. Is not difficult at all to meet Eagles, American Alligators, wild boars, and perhaps even the endangered Florida panthers and manatees.
The Admission to the Kennedy Center includes access to the area located immediately after the entry gate where you can explore the Rocket Garden and the Space Shuttle Atlantis, the IMAX Theater and much more. Then, you can hop aboard one of the official NASA Buses for the official escorted tour, included with your ticket, to explore NASA headquarters including some of the famous launching areas and rocket hangars. During the tour, you will also stop at the museum dedicated to the Apollo Mission and the Moon Landing.
The Tour Bus is included in the ticket, the first bus leaves at 10:00 am and continue every 15 minutes throughout the day. The last tour starts at 15:30. These tours last about two hours. The program and times are subject to change due to rocket launches, special events and weather.
