Are you visiting Las Vegas for a weekend of fun or to try your hand at one of the popular casinos? If you are interested in extending your stay for a couple of days, you can visit some incredible natural wonders that are found around the Nevada-Arizona-Utah area: Zion Park with the majesty of the mountains and silence of wilderness.Valley of Fire with the red sandstones formations and Bryce Canyon with amazing natural sculptures.
Leaving the hustle & bustle of Las Vegas in the early morning, we will head towards the Valley of Fire State Park. An incredible natural area where red rocks started forming approximately 150 million of years ago ... Just to put it into context, it was during the age of dinosaurs. We will learn how these rocks came to be and how the interactions of winds, sands, and waters over the years made this scenery possible.
We will later continue towards Zion Park, a magnificent National Park and nature preserve found in the south-west region of Utah. The name came from the first Mormons settlers of the area that were left speechless by the astonishing beauty of the area. We will take a short walk towards the Virgin River to see how the river runs through the park. After our visit, we will make our way towards the town of Kanab where will spend our first night.Sample Hotel - Overnight at la Quinta Inn Kanab
This day is dedicated to the visit of the Bryce Canyon National Park. We will leave Kanab in the morning after breakfast and head toward the southern part of Utah to reach the park. Funny enough, Bryce Canyon is not technically a canyon, instead is one of the few parks that has a very peculiar geological structure made of “hoodos” (or tent rock) which are tall, thin spires that grow from the bottom of a drained basin. During our tour, we'll see from up close the beautiful orange, red and yellow colors of the sand sculptures and rocks that are found throughout the park and we'll be able to understand how they came to be. We'll try to catch the sunset from this area (weather and time permitting) before returning to Las Vegas for an evening arrival.
