Santa Monica Pier & Ferris Wheel

Santa Monica Pier & Ferris Wheel

The Santa Monica Pier, located in the Santa Monica beachfront neighborhood, was opened in early 1910s and today is one of the most historic landmarks of Los Angeles.

Throughout the years, Santa Monica has had many Piers, but the current one is actually formed by 2 adjoining piers, one built in 1909, and the other built in 1916. Today, the Pier is worldwide known for the state of the art solar-paneled Ferris Wheel that stretches out into the Pacific Ocean.

The Ferris-Wheel @ the Pacific Park

The Ferris-Wheel is part of the Pacific Park, the only West-coast family amusement park to be located on a Pier. The Pacific Park is one of the most visited attractions in Santa Monica and features a total of thirteen rides and a roller coaster that circles around the majority of the park. The park is a perfect outing for the whole family, there is no charge for admission, and you just pay for each individual ride.
Santa Monica Pier also houses the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, the original 1920s carousel, and a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, a video arcade and a trapeze school.

I’m the biggest fan of Fall activities, but haven’t had a chance to do anything beyond Apple Picking in NJ. I decided to take a last minute 2 day trip with a friend in Hudson Valley, but didn’t know where to start [...] Thankfully I was able to use New York Welcome to do the hard work for us [...]

Irene was a FANTASTIC tour guide! She was so knowledgeable about the area and was so patient with all our questions. We stopped to use the bathroom and we got coffee halfway through, she was so kind! It was a pleasure learning about Brooklyn from you!
