Step away from the urban energy of San Francisco for a rejuvenating half-day journey to two of the region’s most beloved destinations. Walk among ancient coastal redwoods in Muir Woods National Monument and then explore the picturesque bayside town of Sausalito with its charming shops, galleries and waterfront promenade.
A refreshing contrast of majestic nature and serene coastal village views.
This enriching half-day excursion marries two profoundly different yet equally captivating experiences: the serenity and grandeur of ancient redwoods and the relaxed elegance of a waterfront village. It’s perfect for nature lovers, photography enthusiasts, and travelers seeking a refreshing contrast to the urban rhythm of San Francisco.
Ideal for travelers who want:
Our tip: Bring layers, as temperatures under the redwood canopy and along the bay can be cooler than in the city.

This half-day tour begins with a scenic drive from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. As you traverse into Marin County, enjoy striking views of the Bay and the rolling hills that surround the region.
Your first destination is Muir Woods National Monument, one of the last remaining stands of old-growth coastal redwood forest near San Francisco. These magnificent trees — some hundreds of years old — tower overhead as you stroll along shaded boardwalk paths and forest trails. Enjoy a comfortable period of free time to explore the cathedral-like grove of Sequoia sempervirens at your own pace.
After reconnecting with your guide and vehicle, the journey continues to the cosmopolitan waterfront village of Sausalito. This charming town, known for its art galleries, boutique shops and scenic harbor, offers a relaxing contrast to the forest experience. Wander at leisure along the marina, capture postcard-worthy views of San Francisco across the water, and consider a café lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants — immersing yourself in seaside tranquility.
At the conclusion of your Sausalito visit, you will return to San Francisco, typically in the early afternoon, with fond memories of nature and bayside charm.
